Baptism
“Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4
We Believe Baptism Is…
An act of obedience. Jesus instructs us to be baptized and was even baptized himself as an example (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9).
A testimony. Baptism is a public testimony of a believer’s faith in Jesus Christ—an outward display of the inward transformation that has taken place through Jesus.
An illustration. Baptism is an illustration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism illustrates our old self being buried by going into the water. Then, it’s a symbol of us being raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:4).

Frequently Asked Questions
Who should be baptized?
Baptism is a significant act of obedience that publicly declares a person’s faith in Jesus Christ. Every believer is called to be baptized as a demonstration of their trust in Him for salvation. It serves as a symbol of the new life they have received through Christ, following His example and command.
“With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, ‘Be saved from this corrupt generation!’ So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.” — Acts 2:40-41
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.” — Matthew 28:19-20
When should I be baptized?
Baptism should take place soon after you have placed your faith in Christ for salvation. Scripture teaches that baptism follows a believer’s decision to trust in Jesus, and there is no reason to delay. If you wait until you feel “good” enough, you may never feel ready—baptism is an act of obedience, not a measure of worthiness.
“As they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The eunuch said, ‘Look, there’s water. What would keep me from being baptized?’ So he ordered the chariot to stop, and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” — Acts 8:36-38
Why should I be baptized by immersion (going under the water)?
Because Jesus was baptized that way. “In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. As soon as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.” Mark 1:9-10
Every Baptism in the Bible was by immersion. “Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” Acts 8:36-38
The Greek word for baptize means “to dip or immerse.”
It best symbolizes a burial and resurrection. “Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. ” Romans 6:3-4
What about infant baptism?
In the Bible, we see parents bringing their children to Jesus. He welcomed them, prayed for them, and instructed His disciples to do the same. However, He did not baptize them, nor did He command others to do so.
Baptism is a public declaration of faith, meant for those who have personally chosen to trust in Christ for salvation. If you were baptized as an infant but have not been baptized as a believer, you have yet to fully experience the biblical significance of baptism. We strongly encourage you to take this step as an adult follower of Christ.
Should I get baptized again?
If you have not been baptized by immersion since placing your faith in Jesus Christ, your next step in obedience is baptism. Baptism is a powerful outward expression of your inward decision to follow Christ, symbolizing your identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. It is a public testimony of your faith and a step of obedience in your walk with Him.
However, if you have already been baptized by immersion after trusting in Christ for salvation, there is no need to be baptized again. Baptism is a one-time act that signifies your commitment to Jesus, and it does not need to be repeated. Instead, you are encouraged to continue growing in your faith, living out your commitment to Christ daily, and helping others take their next steps in following Him.
