Baptism

“Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

We believe baptism is…

An act of obedience. Jesus instructs us to be baptized and was even baptized himself as an example (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9).

An outward display of an internal transformation. The water isn’t supernatural or magical. Baptism is an outward display of the inward transformation that Jesus has made in your life.

An illustration of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism illustrates our old self being buried by going into the water. Then, it’s a symbol of us being raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:4).

Frequently asked questions

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

When should I be baptized?

As soon as you have believed in Christ for salvation. The Bible teaches that baptism should follow your decision to become a believer. There is no reason to delay. If you wait until you are “good” enough, you will never feel ready for baptism.

“As they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The eunuch said, ‘Look, there’s water. What would keep me from being baptized?’ So he ordered the chariot to stop, and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” Acts 8:36-38.

Why should I be baptized by immersion (going under the water)?

Because Jesus was baptized that way.In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. As soon as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.” Mark 1:9-10

Every Baptism in the Bible was by immersion. “Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” Acts 8:36-38

It best symbolizes a burial and resurrection.Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. ” Romans 6:3-4

What about infant baptism?

In the Bible we find parents bringing children to Jesus. He held them and prayed for them and told his disciples to welcome them. But He did not baptize them, and He did not tell anyone to baptize them.

Baptism is a public profession of salvation, and only people who have intentionally received salvation should experience baptism.

If you have not experienced adult baptism, even though you have experienced baptism as an infant, the full meaning and significance of baptism has yet to take place in your life. We strongly encourage you to be baptized as an adult believer in Christ.

Should I get baptized again?

If you have not been baptized by immersion since asking Jesus into your life, your next step is baptism. If you have been baptized since asking Jesus into your life, there is no need to be baptized again.
