“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in sin. You are saved by grace!” Ephesians 2:4-5
We live in a broken world filled with suffering, pain, and death. This brokenness stems from sin—our rejection of God’s perfect design. Sin entered the world when humanity chose to disobey God, and its effects ripple through every part of creation. Separated from God, we search for purpose and healing in ways that often lead to more brokenness, such as selfish ambitions, unhealthy relationships, and misplaced priorities.
Even in this brokenness, we see glimpses of God’s original design: the beauty of nature, the joy of relationships, and the longing for peace and purpose. These moments remind us of the Creator’s perfect plan—a world filled with harmony and a close relationship with Him (Genesis 1:31; Psalm 19:1). God designed us to worship Him and live in fellowship with Him, but sin distorts this purpose.
The Bible defines sin as anything we think, say, or do that goes against God’s will. All of us have sinned and strayed from His design (Romans 3:23). The result of sin is death—spiritual separation from God both in this life and for eternity (Romans 6:23). Instead of bringing freedom, sin leaves us broken and hopeless, unable to fix ourselves.
But God, in His love and mercy, made a way for us to be restored. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life, die on the cross for our sins, and rise again, defeating death (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus took the punishment we deserved so that we can be reconciled to God. His resurrection gives us the promise of eternal life and victory over sin.
Salvation is a free gift from God, not something we can earn through good deeds or effort. It comes through believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9). When we put our trust in Him, God forgives us, restores us, and gives us new life. Through Jesus, we can live according to God’s design and find true purpose and peace.
Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ as the perfect Son of God, who died and rose again to pay the penalty for sin and gives eternal life to all who place their faith in Him alone.
You can be saved if you:
1. Recognize that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came into the world, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for your sin, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 3:16).
2. Acknowledge that eternal life is a free gift offered by God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8-9).
3. Trust in Jesus Christ alone to provide eternal life. This means placing personal faith in Him as the one who guarantees eternal life (Acts 16:31; John 6:47).
