Worship
We gather every Sunday as a church to focus our attention on God and worship Him in Spirit and truth. We desire for all people to see the beauty and glory of the King.

Grow
God desires for all His children to grow in knowledge of Him, love for Him, and obedience to Him. Everyone grows at different paces; so progress, not perfection, is the goal.

Serve
Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. We desire to selflessly and joyfully use the resources and abilities God has given us to serve the church as well as our neighbors.

What We Believe
We are a Southern Baptist church committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ.
As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, we are affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and the Thomas County Baptist Association, partnering together to reach our community and the world with the hope of the gospel.
We hold to the truths of the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000, which guide our beliefs and mission as we seek to glorify God and serve others.
About the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is fully authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. The Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, are God’s revelation to humanity, providing guidance for life, salvation, and spiritual growth. We affirm that the Bible is sufficient for understanding God’s will and truth, and we seek to honor and obey its teachings in all aspects of our lives. Every part of the Bible points to Jesus, who is the focus of everything God has revealed.
About God
We believe in the one true and living God, who is infinite, perfect, and sovereign over all creation. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, ruling with absolute holiness, wisdom, and love. We believe in the doctrine of the Trinity: that God eternally exists as three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—yet is one God. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, equal in divine nature, power, and glory, yet they carry out distinct roles in perfect unity.
God the Father is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of all things, who sent His Son to redeem humanity and adopts believers as His children.
God the Son, Jesus Christ, is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns in heaven.
God the Holy Spirit indwells believers, convicts the world of sin, leads the church in truth, and empowers Christians to live for God’s glory.
Though the word “Trinity” does not appear in Scripture, the Bible clearly teaches this truth (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). We worship one God in three persons, a mystery beyond human comprehension but essential to the Christian faith.
About man
All people are uniquely created by God, made in His image. He designed people as male and female, and this gift of gender is part of His good creation. At first, man was innocent, given the freedom to choose by God. But through his choice, man disobeyed and brought sin into the world. Tempted by Satan, man broke God’s command, and as a result, all humans inherit a sin nature. From the moment we are capable of making moral decisions, we too become guilty and deserve condemnation. Only God’s grace can restore us and help us fulfill the purpose He originally created for us. The value of every person is clear, as we are made in God’s image, and Christ gave His life for us. Therefore, every individual, no matter their race, deserves respect, dignity, and Christian love.
About salvation
To believe means to rely on or trust Jesus—not just intellectually agree with facts about Him but to depend on Him as your Savior.
Salvation is not based on works or human effort but on God’s grace. It is a transformation that changes how we live and view the world. Salvation is:
Immediate. The moment you believe, you are saved and have eternal life (John 5:24).
Irrevocable. Salvation cannot be lost, because it is based on Jesus’ finished work, not your efforts (John 10:28-29).
By grace alone. Salvation is not a reward for doing good but a gift for those who trust in Christ (Romans 4:4-5).
Salvation is a free gift from God, not something we can earn through good deeds or effort. It comes through believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9). When we put our trust in Him, God forgives us, restores us, and gives us new life. Through Jesus, we can live according to God’s design and find true purpose and peace.
About spiritual gifts
We believe the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to every believer for the building up of the church and the glory of God (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). These gifts should be used in love, unity, and accordance with Scripture (Ephesians 4:11-16). While some gifts were specific to the early church, all believers today are equipped for service, encouragement, and ministry (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Peter 4:10-11). We encourage every member to use their gifts faithfully to serve others and advance the mission of Christ.
About the church
We believe that the church is a local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, and observes the ordinances. The church exists to glorify God through worship, teaching, fellowship, service, and the proclamation of the gospel. We believe the church is led by a team of pastors, who are called by God to be responsible for the spiritual oversight and care of the congregation, and deacons, who serve in practical roles to meet the needs of the church. While both men and women serve in various ways, the roles of pastor and deacon are reserved for men, according to Scripture.
Membership is a vital part of the church, where individuals commit to the mission, doctrine, and fellowship of the body. We strive to be a community that encourages one another in faith, holds each other accountable, and supports one another in love and service.
About church discipline
Church discipline is a loving process that seeks to restore those who have strayed from God’s truth (Matthew 18:15-17). It is not about punishment or condemnation but about lovingly helping individuals return to a right relationship with God and the church.
Why do we practice church discipline?
For holiness. To maintain the purity and testimony of the church (1 Corinthians 5:6-7). The church is called to be a light in the world, and discipline helps preserve its witness.
For restoration. To bring the individual back into fellowship with God and the church (Galatians 6:1). Discipline is an act of love and concern for their spiritual well-being.
For accountability. To encourage all members to live according to God’s Word and hold one another accountable in love.
What does church discipline look like?
1. Private conversation. If someone is in sin, address the issue one-on-one with gentleness and humility (Matthew 18:15).
2. Small group. If the individual does not respond, involve one or two others to confirm the matter (Matthew 18:16).
3. Church involvement. If the issue remains unresolved, bring the matter before the church for prayer and guidance (Matthew 18:17).
4. Restoration. The ultimate goal is to restore the individual to fellowship with God and the church.
Church discipline is not about judgment but about love. It reflects God’s desire for His people to live in holiness and unity.
About the family
We believe that marriage is an institution ordained by God, designed to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, where both partners are called to love, honor, and serve each other in mutual respect and sacrificial commitment. We believe that the family, built on the foundation of marriage, is a primary context for discipleship, spiritual growth, and the nurturing of children. Parents are entrusted with the responsibility to raise their children in the knowledge and fear of the Lord, teaching them to love and follow Jesus Christ. The church supports families by offering biblical teaching, encouragement, and community to help strengthen marriages and families in fulfilling God’s purposes.
We also recognize that divorce can occur due to the brokenness of sin, and we approach this topic with compassion and understanding. The church offers support, guidance, and counseling for those navigating the challenges of divorce, emphasizing God’s grace and the hope of healing and restoration in Christ.
About baptism & the Lord's Supper
We affirm that Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for His Church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These ordinances are acts of obedience that symbolize the believer’s faith in Christ and their participation in the life of the Church. These ordinances do not provide salvation but serve as visible signs of the grace God has given us through Jesus Christ. We practice them in obedience to Scripture and as an expression of our faith in Him.
Our Story

The City of Coolidge was established in 1900 by Bill Miller and his brother. Soon after, Dr. Jameson, Executive Secretary of the Georgia Baptist Convention, started a mission in the new city. Missionaries Rev. Taylor and Rev. Thrasher continued Jameson’s work until a church was formed. In 1901, Coolidge Baptist Church was constituted with sixteen members, marking the beginning of its long and faithful ministry to the community and beyond.

By the fall of 1908, the city of Coolidge was beginning to flourish. This photograph captures sawmill workers during that pivotal season, reflecting the hardworking spirit that shaped the community. As the timber industry grew, these men played a key role in advancing the town’s development, economic growth, and the region’s early prosperity, contributing to the foundation of the community’s identity that still resonates today.

In 1919, the Thomasville Times Enterprise described Coolidge as “Thomas County’s youngest town, hustling and thriving,” reflecting its early ambition. Just over a decade after its founding, Coolidge had grown into a vibrant, industrious town. Businesses flourished, families settled, and civic life expanded, contributing to the promise, growth, and prosperity that shaped the community’s identity and its future success in the years to come.

In the early to mid-20th century, cabbage farming became central to Coolidge’s agricultural economy, with many local residents cultivating the crop in fertile soil. This success earned Coolidge the nickname “Cabbage Capital of the World,” boosting its national reputation. Pictured around 1940 is the Murphy Cabbage Shed—one of several facilities where cabbage was harvested, stored, and prepared for shipping, further strengthening the town’s agricultural legacy.

In 1950, the church celebrated a milestone by dedicating a new sanctuary to replace the original wooden building that had long served the congregation. The structure symbolized growth and renewal. Inside the vestibule, a plaque commemorated its construction, with the inscription: “This Building Was Erected to the Glory of God and In Loving Memory of Mrs. Lena Owen Megahee by Her Seven Sons,” marking an enduring legacy.

On December 21, 1950, the congregation gathered to dedicate the newly completed pastorium—a meaningful addition to the church’s ministry. Built on land generously donated by Mr. Lamar Evans, the home reflected the unity and support of the church family. Rev. DeLoach delivered a special sermon during the service, offering encouragement and vision that helped shape the tone for future pastoral leadership, service, and ministry growth.

Coolidge Baptist Church has a rich history of faithful ministry, shaped by generations of active members, spiritual growth, and community outreach. Through worship, youth programs, and service, the church has remained central to the town's spiritual life. Pictured here is a joyful group of children and youth from 1956, reflecting the church’s enduring mission to nurture, disciple, and guide the next generation in faith and service to God’s kingdom.

In 2012, the Church entered a new chapter as the sanctuary, offices, and two-story educational wing were relocated across Highway 319 to a new 4-acre lot. This move reflected years of planning, prayer, and God’s provision. Members gathered in gratitude, dedicating the new space to ongoing gospel ministry. The relocation preserved the church’s presence and symbolized a renewed commitment to serving the community and vision for the future.

As the congregation grew in number and faith, the Lord continued to bless His church. Recognizing the need for more space to support expanding ministries, the church broke ground on the Family Life Center in August 2015. Designed as a hub for fellowship, ministry programs, and community activities, the new facility provided a place to strengthen relationships, deepen faith, and further the church’s mission, enabling greater impact in the community.

Since 1901, much has changed, but our commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ remains unwavering. With a rich heritage, Coolidge Baptist Church continues to serve as a beacon of hope in our city, striving to glorify God in all we do. Guided by Ephesians 3:20–21, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,” we press forward, trusting in His strength, provision, and grace to guide us in the years ahead. To God be the glory!
